About this blog:

I am keeping this blog mostly for myself - which is not to say that readers aren't welcome, of course, but generally, I am hoping that if I give myself a writing schedule (once every 2 weeks) I will also stick to my reading schedule.

As I the description suggests, most of my posts will deal either with history or art - and theoretical/philosophical questions related to either - from a radical Marxist perspective. I am an undergraduate student studying visual arts and arts (currently on study leave) and I am hoping to keep most of the posts at roughly the quality that I would find acceptable for a university essay. Our standards may differ. When I say roughly, I do mean roughly; I probably won't bother too much getting the citation perfect, and I may be freer with my language or my quotes (I hate how parsimonious we have to be with quotes because of university word limits).

This blog will therefore probably be more interesting to university students than anyone else, although, you know, give me a chance.

If you are a student and find an idea here relevant for something you are working on, even if it is just a point on which to start a disagreement, go ahead and use it. And since only suicidal students would cite from another student's blog, just plagiarise, I won't tell and who would know? If you do do that, make me feel good and say so - anonymously. Don't tell me your name unless you want to get caught.

You could even send me your essays, I'd like that.

Finally, two things. First, although I am writing from a Marxist perspective I obviously do not speak for any Marxist organisation. In other words, my errors are my own. Secondly, if you are interested in Marxism, the only way to learn it is to do it. Get in touch with a socialist organisation near you. Check the links out if you want to shop around.
